We fire up
On the day we set up, cook, serve and clean up our gear. You just point people towards the smoke.
Make it even better
Grazing table
Smoked salmon, pork belly bites, breads, dips, tostadas & salsa, cheese, crackers and pickles. Perfect while the speeches happen.
Smoked desserts
Cinnamon sugar fry bread doughnuts with caramel cremeux, and smoked apple & raspberry crumble with cream.
Kids' meals
Chips, chicken nuggets, cheerios, potato salad and a bit of beef cheek for the brave ones.
BBQ demos
Rick cooks in front of your crowd and talks fire, rubs and smoke while everyone eats. Great for customer days and trade events.
The pitmaster plays too
Rick has been a working musician for over 30 years, playing festivals, bars, weddings and corporate events. He sings and plays guitar, bass, drums and harmonica, looping it live so it sounds like a full band. One booking covers your food and your music.

What's included, and dietaries
Included with every booking
- BBQ smoker trailer on site
- Pitmaster, plus helpers to suit your numbers
- Biodegradable trays, cutlery and napkins
- Rick's sauces and condiments
- Setting up and packing down our gear
Travel: a small flat fee around Christchurch. Further afield (Canterbury and beyond) is quoted.
Dietaries? Sorted.
- Most of our meats are gluten free and dairy free
- Real vegetarian mains, not just a sad salad: the smoked jackfruit "no lobster lobster roll", veggie birria with crunchy tostadas, or smoked butternut filled with roast veg, pine nuts and feta
- Allergies and no-pork or no-beef guests can be swapped individually
Just give us the numbers and we'll look after each person.
Don't just take our word for it
Good to know
How far ahead should I book?
As early as you can. Weekends from October to March, and especially Christmas party season, book out first. Got something last minute? Still ask. We'll tell you straight if we can do it.
Do you do small groups?
Yes. Platter meals work well from around 10 people. For really small groups, our heat-and-eat BBQ boxes from the online store might be a better fit.
Can I mix and match the menus?
Absolutely. Swap a meat, add brisket, drop the sausages, add a grazing table. Every quote is built around you.
What do you need from us on the day?
Somewhere flat to park the trailer, and power if you want fries. If there's no power, that's fine too. Let us know what the venue is like and we'll work around it.
Do you travel?
Yep. We've cooked all over Canterbury. Travel within Christchurch is a small flat fee; anything further is quoted with your menu.
